Vote Incentive 20091200

Old vote incentive December 2009. I may have posted this elsewhere.

Comic 20100907

woo callback in Division of Labor to Tools of Industry Which was first put up 4 years ago .. but in terms of the story as it stand it is only 10 or so pages back.

I am working a bit on an incentive piece and I think I'm going to put up a small past incentive gallery someplace. I spend a bit more time doing an incentive p[iece than I do on regular updates and I would like to show them off a bit more.
... I am really aching to put a more versatile site together, but I'll have to wait.

Likewise, I looked at a few free forums and I don't think I am going that route.

Comic 20100906

Division of Labor jumps way back to the end of the Garden of Serenity Story. I also finally moved Deadline into a more proper place in the flow of events.

Also did some updates to the links page and fixed a few small errors that had creeped into the comic site.

I've been seriously thinking about having a forums with the site, or switching to wordpress, or doing a dozen other things.

I have not worked on my extra stuff for a vote incentive or anything like that, I did finish the page for the seventh. So, I will have a bit more time this evening and tomorrow to knock something out.

Comic 20100905

Poor ole Marla ,Marla Gets Company. Going to be making some good/evil/naughty/nice decisions about a few things coming up.

I've been trying to get some extra work/vote incentives worked on. I just did a sketch I hope to work on this evening and i have a few other stand-alone pieces in various stages. I'm looking for a art site to post a gallery. I've looked at a few but nothing seems to suit my level of skill, style type and subject matter.

Comic 20100904

Marla's new hobby Marla Works One Out. This whole part of the story is getting a little ahead of itself. I may have to rearrange things a little bit or think to move events around a little differently than I originally planned.

So here is Marla, obviously hooked on Roland. Mary knows it, Roland suspects. How will it all resolve? I have a few suspicions but I can't say for sure. SOme sides of some of the main characters are going to start showing that may be a little uncomfortable.

Comic 20100903

Not sure exactly if there is going to be one more page in this little series or not. I think I have another page of Roland and Mary scripted for this, but it is something that may be handled a little bit differently elsewhere. I may jump to something else while I think on it. Suprise Bedroom Guest 3

Comic 20100902

Here is the next Suprise Bedroom Guest. Telling a story from two different directions is interesting to me. Some who have read through my comic may have a guess as to the nature of Mary's abilities, but not likely to their exact extent. It seems from the current point of view a somewhat preserved grandmother and a young Roland Link are having pan generational affair.

The truth is a little more bizarre than that and somewhat less disturbing. As we go back in the story and tell some more of Mary's relationship with Mable's parents and a few other people around town how this relationship sits in the grand story will be noticeably different.

So, I've mentioned before. As the story grows in both directions it will change in both directions.

Comic 20100901

This is half of the page I've been working on today. I will work on posting the full page. Suprise Bedroom Guest. Yes Roland is the victim of the booty call.

Comic 20100831

Todays quick Comic is not about a supper in a whorehouse. Whorehouse Supper is talking about a whorehouse during supper.

A bit of trivial background information about the town. It is one of those things you think about when doing background stuff that sometimes never sees the light of day. In this instance I needed a little supper conversation piece and Stan seemed like the sort of fellow that would know that sort of half gossipy information. The boarding house is a setting for things in the past.

Comic 20100830

Just a little quick one that I didn't get to where I wanted. It sets up a little arc for the future. Community Picnic. I was hoping to have a little joke in there; one that was funny. But, no dice.

I am possibly back to the grind tomorrow, so the hiatus may continue. I have a few pictures I want to work on today. So watch for them.

Comic 20100828

Did this in a short amount of time, as usual .. Cousin Guy Epilogue This actually may not be the epilogue for these few pages about this planned marriage. It is also not the epilogue for Guy, who we have already seen in a later page (Cankers 8).

Comic 20100827

Hiyas Gang, There is a break in the action of my life for the rest of the week and I have been aching to make a page or two, so today I've thrown together Cousin Guy 3.

I inadvertently misnamed Guy in the previous comics, but that is corrected at least in the titles. I can not guarantee any particular update schedule, but I have pictures I want to work on and I should have a little bit of time.

These Cousin Guy strips are a crux of much of the main story of the comic.

Small Hiatus

This past week and the next three to four weeks I will be involved in career schooling. I've decided to take a plunge into a semi career to take care of some extreme cash flow problems I'm experiencing. I'm still working on pages and working through stories and I'm also still sketching some stand alone pieces. But, making any sort of promises about scheduling would be silly.

After the school is finished, assuming I pass the various knowledge and skill tests I will be working long days and long weeks at least until I get financially solvent and have a bit put aside. As a requirement for the paying of my training I will be working for at least a year. (though, I have found a way around that if I get enough cash in hand).

I will be thinking of my dear QT and company often. I am going to try to work through some of the pages and pictures I have started but the priority now is school.

Comic 20100707

Heh, Well, this took a week to get to. Marla Wakes Up.

My car update is now two broken front coil springs, which should be arriving in the next few days. So we stand at: fix the strut springs -> front end alignment -> two new tires -> state safety inspection. This is after all the brake pads, caliper mounts, rotors. The car drama is one of the contributing factors to the comic being a bit off schedule.

New Vote Incentive

I had worked on a few little things for an arc we have all been waiting for and I just uploaded a preview character design as a vote incentive here.

Online Comics

I wanted there to a be a reveal in the comic, but I haven't posted anything in a while /and/ not many people vote to ruin it anyways :p .

Comic 20100629

Here is another quick comic. I keep trying to put together one panel comics, but I can't seem to do it. Marla's Nightmare.

Tomorrow morning I will be putting three disk brake rotors on my car and trying to get in for a wheel alignment somewhere. I also have to take a look at the ABS which I think has degenerated my brake lines. Then work in the evening. So bets are against there being a comic Wednesday.

Comic 20100628

A second page 4 years in the making Mary Arrives 2. I'm working on some wet t-shirt designs for that little arc and another of Mary's introduction arc.

I'm seriously contemplating job hunting in the next week or so. I'm having problems where I'm at with my hours. It is convenient to have the time off that I do, but I'm in a cash poor situation and need more work time to help out. So I'm not sure of my free time for a bit.

Comic 20100624

The right thing for the wrong reasons. Or is that backwards. Welfare Check.

Bringing back the wonderful home life or Sarah. She has a pretty sad backstory. Out of all the different things I write it likely affects me the most. I will have to get into it soon, but I've put it off primarily because it is a real downer.

Comic 20100623

A late follow up to the Violent Influences. Violent Influences - Aftermath.

Again, I've gone through the archives and I'm starting to fill in some blanks here and there and fixed a few navigation problems. I've moved a few pages around and I have some more to move around in the coming days as I add different pages. The story is always changing; past, present, and future.

Monday, June 21, 2010

Comic 20100621

Ha Ha.. It has been a while since I've updated two days in a row. I had this little aside pop into my head last night and worked it up today. Scamp. If anybody has seen the funny bit from this page done somewhere before please let me know. As I was finishing it up I got the feeling that I'd seen the gag before.

I'm trying to squeeze in an hour a day every day directly working on pages. This will be in addition to the bits of time spent doing layouts and steeling funny bits from real life.

Comic 20100620

Hi all. It has been too long since my last update. I am striving to get more done with the comic. Birdbox 5. I want to update daily and I think I'm going to scale back on the full page updates.

Sunday, June 13, 2010

Comic 20100613

And so it begins. I'm not sure where the wet t-shirt thing is going except for drawing pictures of girls in them. I have a few ideas about how the regular stories are supposed to progress through this. I only really posted this page because it was pretty simple to throw together. Wet T-Shirts for Life

I may be replacing a wheel bearing hub this weekend. Wish me luck.

Thursday, June 10, 2010

Comic 20100610

The Birdbox saga continues in Birdbox 4. I started this page back during the original arc but it got set aside and today's update is only the completed half of the page.

I'll be working on the final page and a half over the next few days. School is out in the next few days which shoots a good bit of drawing time down.

Edit. Here is the full completed page. I've one or two more in this little story.
Birdbox 4.5

Comic 20100608

Number 2 of meeting Gary Gareth. Cousin Gary 2, There is supposed to be one more page of this, I'm still working on the reveal whether it will be big or small.

Monday, June 07, 2010

Comic 20100607

Super surprise comic. Cousin Gary. This starts a bit into the bigger picture. We have seen Gary in a previous comic that occurs after this one in Cankers 8. I'm fiddling with finishing the Canker's Wet T contest and other related things. I've literally 75+ scribbles, doodles and scripts for a pretty big arc that will shake up every character in the comic.

I've a lot of things going on this spring so far. The next big project is changing a wheel bearing in my stupid car. Thanks to those of you who have stuck with me so far. I will get to the end, but it may take a while.

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Comic 20100530

An even 10 days without an update. I have been working on Cutethulhu things as much as I can, but right now they aren't all postable pages. This is one meant for the beginning of the comic. No Lights

On a personal note, finally got the pool up.

Fighting Ninjas

I was making a whiny post about all the crap I have to do. But I better just get to it so I can get to posting comics as soon as I can. I do have some neat funny, sexy and morally ambiguous pages to get out of my head and into the site. Work has been a absolute treasure trove of character and one shot page ideas this week. I can't wait to draw some of them up and I have those dangling arcs to pick up.

Ack gotta fly .. See yas soon.

Comic 20100520

The end of an unintended hiatus framed by work, chores, writer's block, fatigue, and bad planning. Bird Luck. This is one of the few pages I've done that got a real out loud laugh from my wife. She says, 'Poop is funny.'

To help concentrate I did a lot of this listening to Gorlillaz Stylo and Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros All in a Day.

Turns out CG is a little broke so here is your Comic.

This was originally a clever fart comic about cabbage. You know Halupki?
But, since I am very clever I realized it was a a Mexican holiday and I made a comic to honor it. Cinco de Mayo

Comic 20100502

Another unsightly gap in my update schedule. A Good Apology.

I did build a 1'x1'x1' cement form for a footer block to repair my front porch and put 120lbs of cement in it. Now, if anybody asks you what the weight of a cubic foot of cement is you can casually tell them 120 pounds.

One of the next projects is an unseemly sewer pipe replacement. It will involve toilets, closet flanges and wax rings.

Comic 20100428

Lalala ... A little forced perspective on Q's right foot. Sweeping I did the thumbnail sketch on paper then redrew it with the pen tablet. I'm trying to get daily updates again and for now that means simpler or shorter comics.

Comic 20100427

A bedtime composition book sketch Ass Rotor. Trying to get back into the groove of things.

Monday, April 26, 2010

Comic 20100426

This particular panel looks into the future a little further than most. From the point where most of the story lines are fluttering around until QT meets the Mystery Broom is months if not years. I have to decide when best a particular plot point is unveiled before I can say for sure.

With spring here and yearly house maintainance on two houses and three lots it is getting a little hectic getting any sort of arting done.

Most importantly, I discovered this spring that I like Yuengling Porter more than Yuengling Black & Tan. I like my beer like I like my women like I like my coffee - dark and bitter.

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Comic 20100422

Caught Planning - updates

My wife and I have been planning a trip to NYC so she can attend a medical conference. Due to several restrictions with varying travel arrangements this is turning into a major hassle. So until we either figure out how to get her there or find out we can't get her there I'm not going to have much time for anything else.

I'm a bit disappointed about the infrequent updates this past few weeks. Many times my schedule is not my own and I really can't work on the comic at certain times. I am pushing to make more time here.

Monday, April 19, 2010

Comic 20100419

The complete page of the comic from yesterday - Doltan 2.5. Not much more to say about it.

Sunday, April 18, 2010

Comic 20100418

Another Doltan Doltan 2

I felt a few things in the set up of the story needed fleshed out a little bit. One point that nagged at me a bit was what paperwork was actually attached to the Rileys. Where there birth certificates, marriage licenses? For Shub and Professor Riley I think there are some but QT doesn't have any of that.

Thursday, April 15, 2010

Comic 20100415

US tax day comic that has nothing to do with taxes: First Day Recap. I felt it was needed since I posted half of the first day back 4 years ago and the other half about 4 weeks ago maybe and worked the last few months getting Marla to the first day of school.

I also thought it important that Roland finally have an 'AHA' moment about Marla. What will he do now? At this time he is having a semi relationship with Mary and he has a perpetual crush on Sarah.

I do have some definite ideas about outcomes. This is one of the areas of the stories that I've left open to see how I felt about the different characters when the time came.

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

Slow Update

After all my car drama I'm a bit out of sync with my schedule. I have another little flash animated comic about ready post, but since it takes a little finesse in putting the page together I'm not going to have it until later.

We've had appointments today and work this evening and I haven't had time to lay anything out. As far as I know, and often I'm the last to know, I'm free tomorrow and I should have something for Thursday. As I've mentioned a few times before this will be the 200th page. Since I'm keen to keep my updates coming quickly I will likely make a stand alone piece to commemorate the milestone.

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Facebook

I made a Facebook Page for the Cutethulhu Webcomic. I'm not entirely sure how integration will go but I can have threaded discussions there and some easier ways to interact with those curious about the comic.

Friday, April 09, 2010

Comic 20100409

This comic got pushed back a couple times. Birdbox 3 I thought a couple times that maybe this couple of pages is a bit too much and it is going to be a bit worse before it is over.

The next page up will be number 200. I haven't decided exactly what it will be. I haven't done more than a rough thumbnail of the next Birdbox so I don't have any time invested in anything. Maybe I will think of something at work this evening.

Wednesday, April 07, 2010

Stupid Caliper Mounts ...

.. Are Stupid

A normally routine brake pad change turned into not having a vehicle when one sliding bolt on each of my rear brake caliper mounts have seized. This means that I can not remount my calipers until they are loosened. On the bright side I did get to use my hammer in anger.

I've doused them in some lubricant and will try to get them loosened tomorrow. If not I will have to replace the whole mounts. I've a fairly common car so I should be able to find working mounts at one of several local junk yards.

Why does the Cutethulhu blog care? There won't be much time for updates until I get my car on the road again.

200th Comic Looming

According to my navigation javascript my 200th upload is looming. Four or five more updates and I will have broken 200. I've been having fun putting the story together and I hope to have the next 200 done in ... 31/18 * 200 = about 344 more days ...

I'm trying to think of ways to mark the occasion. This comic takes a nice little hunk of my time and 200 is a lot. Any ideas?

Comic 20100406

Hiyas, sort of a last minute cobbled copy/paste heads thing. This comic presumes that they have caught up with Marla's summer activities minus LLXL and weird shit and shows that Marla doesn't know what Roland has been up to. Saved Seat 3.

There have been many different takes on them having their first actual conversation, but as Roland says the few minutes before class starts is not the ideal time and and /we/ have seen most of it happen so I don't want to present it all again except for a little supposition for lost readers.

Monday, April 05, 2010

Comic 20100405

Here is a bit of stronger bit of iconography than usual. I'm interested in illuminated manuscripts, hieroglyphics and mesoamerican art. I like to do these sort of pictures when they can fit into the narrative. LLXL Consigned. This shows that Mary is putting LLXL back into the earth. Trapping it again.

Sunday, April 04, 2010

Comic 20100404

I'm posting this on Good Friday and scheduling it for Easter Sunday. This is one I've had thumbnailed since my first run on Cutethulhu and I finally drew it up. Easter Meal It is awful in almost every way but that is what the Cutethulhu comic is all about.

Comic Hovel Vote Incentive

A little picture of the BirdTrap Shub to look at the vote incentive system at Comic Hovel.

Online Comics

One of my next updates we will see her in a bit more action.

Friday, April 02, 2010

Comic 20100402

Here is Birdbox 2. A bunch of transitional panels showing a heavier than usual Shub. I think she may be on an eating binge or maybe just let herself go a bit getting out of that box. I did enjoy drawing her even meatier than usual. I'm having a great time drawing wide hips and a bit of a belly. Oh and it is not just a birdbox. It is looking like a Birdtrap too.

The next page should be the standalone picture I've been working on, but I don't know if I will be able to get it done in a timely manner. I had an Easter picture roughed out. A very irreverent Easter picture. I will likely work on that to have it done for the holy day.

Comic 20100401

Blogger is giving me grief .. SO Bird Food Free is a quickie based on the inspiration for the Birdbox Start. I was working on the next page in Birdbox, but It went long. I'm actually working on a standalone piece for an incentive / preview before I get into the next page. I've a fire for today and wiring up an outside light. So I'm really hoping to have the time and energy to get the current project done.

It is April Fools Day. I'm not very excited about it. I was sort of thinking about doing something with it for the comic, but I'm not.

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

Comic 20100331

I'd been working on the page as much as I could since the 26th. This should be a fun dirty aside sort of story. Maybe a few more pages. This particular one was inspired by wanting to do something a bit harsh and a little one panel about QT catching birds using traps instead of sticks. Birdbox

Transcription

Well, Something I'd been thinking about doing for a bit of time now is hooking up to Oh No Robot and transcribing the comics into scripts. The nice thing is that anybody can pitch in and do these. I did one to see how it works and it is about as easy as it gets. Transcription Archives

Comic 20100329

This comic comes from a variety of sources that it would be silly to go into. In general some comments were made about a 3 pound block of Amish butter. I did not make this animation. This little flash animation was made by one of my kids. Just note, I'm careful to keep them away from the adult stuff I write and draw. Butter

He's been working a lot on Flash game mods and some of his own animations so I gave him a little layout thumbnail to interpret into a hybrid slide show animation.

Fire!

We
spent eight hours or so burning, chainsawing and dragging wood around the empty lot. This is one of two big fires we had. By the time we were done I was very tired. I spent the whole time out with various family members coming and going.

What is actually pictured here was about 1/20 of brush and wood we went through. I cut down 2 50' trees and we burnt most of them also. We still have deadfall from the snowstorms in two yard lots to cut and burn.

This is why there is no comic update today. My little fingers were achy.

I'm going shoe shopping with the family today but I hope to finish something.

Friday, March 26, 2010

Comic 20100326

This was just a partial page until a few minutes ago. I had a small productive streak and finished the rest of the page. Originally only the first two panels were in the update so, this page has two beats. Saved Seat 2. Marla's chest looks a little bigger than intended in the reveal.

Spent some time moving furniture and painting today.

Intro Images

I had a picture block of text on the main page intended to provide a sort of content warning for the comic. The image itself had too large of a file size and having the same one over time seemed sort of boring. So I whipped together a tiny javascript to random select from different warning message images. I only have two at the moment but I'm going to make a few more of different types.

Comic 20100324

This took longer than usual for how it turned out. I wanted it to have a bit more polish but I didn't have the sit-down time to do that. Saved Seat. This is a page that has been a long time coming. I've laid it out in a dozen different ways with different dialog and outcomes. I've a few simpler pages after this, just talking heads mostly, to set up some of the next stories.

I really going to have to sit down and systematically work on several aspects of my drawing.

Monday, March 22, 2010

Comic 20100322

Not originally intended as an update and a bit of poor anatomy School Tomorrow 2. We see Marla on first day eve.

The very loose sketch I had for this pose looked fairly nice, but cleaning it up revealed some scale and anatomy problems that I tried to fix. This picture was originally intended as a second character profile picture.

Comic 20100321

This is not the comic I was planning on for today, but you will never know. Chinese Buffet.

About an hour sketching something out that I had a few naughty thoughts about the last time we ate at our local Chinese Buffet. I have a few takes on this but this is what came out. Some with a bit of guro and some with a bit of dialog and Shub. I may revisit it later.

Navigation Fixes

Seems I made a few mistakes on the story navigation javascript. One place it skipped to the wrong page and another to a page that didn't exist. They are fixed now.

I also added a picture on the Character's Page. I'm going to concentrate on getting these support things worked on a little bit more, though few people actually visit them.

I'm desperately hoping to have a page done for tomorrow, but I spent the morning wiring and chainsawing and I'm rather physically tired. Maybe a quick nap after supper will help.

I'm throwing around ideas for a blog that allows threaded comments or using a forums or mirroring the comic at an art community website, like deviantart. Though the comic is a little too racy for them. Or moving my hosting from CG and using wordpress w/ comic plugin. I'd be happy with any suggestions.

Comic 20100319

I'm happy with how these last pages turned out. They are not the best art, but the layouts aren't too shabby and they were all done purely digitally and each was put together relatively quickly, a couple hours for each of the full pages. I did do some thumbnail layouts on the pages to make sure I had room to cover what I wanted to but I didn't use them directly. Old Electric 3

This last Old Electric page I decided to hand letter. Using a font is so much neater, but doesn't have much character and I thought this had enough turmoil for Ms Pennytree that hand lettering would bring that out.

Comic 20100317

It is St Patrick's Day. I do not have a St. Patrick's Day themed comic for you. I'm just continueing on with Professor Riley and Ms. Pennytree.
Old Electric 2

edit: Old Electric 2.5 A quick sketch to help the transition to the next page. So shoddy it doesn't need it's own post.

Our St Patrick's Day tradition is to tell a bunch of Irish jokes and watch this a lot.

todays excuse

My hosting company sent my invoices to an old email address. This is not their fault. I forgot to change my contact emails. So I was suspended for a day from some domains that support cutethulhu. oops.

Did some wiring this morning, shopping this afternoon, and work this evening. Will try to finish tomorrow's comic in the morning before we go out.

Monday, March 15, 2010

Comic 20100315

In the planning stage this was a one page comic, now it looks like it will be two or three Old Electric.

I'm starting to rewire my father-in-law's garage this week, at least until I find what is blowing his fuses. I'm not sure how much time this will take. I'm actually only sorting the wiring and adding a dew things, not tearing everything out and starting from scratch.

Comic 20100311

I hate posting a days comic so late during that day (feh, by now it is almost tomorrow). This second meeting between Mary and Marla was something I wasn't sure I was going to show. Marla and Mary Again 3

Originally, and now I think I think more correctly, I was going to have Marla's reveal with her achieved body and without LLXL be the first time Roland sees her in school. After Tim <3 Marla she was to be off camera with this second meeting with Mary told as exposition.

On the other hand, I think my story is linearly distorted in presentation enough without adding flashbacks. The way it is currently only lessens the impact of that one page which would be us seeing Marla for the first time with Roland.

1+ more pages of this then to pick up some other hanging plot thread.

Thursdays Comic

Turns out it is borough meeting night tonight and a very early morning tomorrow. I've got this thing started colored. But it will take more time than I have at hand to get it posted for the automatic update. When I get home from work tomorrow, or more likely after I get home and take a quick nap and supper I'll finish this up.

Comic 20100311-preview

A second pass lines preview of Thursday's comic. You can see the layout lines in gray-blue underneath. I'm planning to have enough time to get this done tomorrow for the 11th. I may throw up a few sketches tomorrow too.

Comic 20100309

This is something I had sitting in the old notebook. Marla's involvement and chance meeting with another jogger is incidental. This is based on a wildly inaccurate understanding of song lyrics. Eye of the Diaper. I've embellished this true story only slightly.

There is a more awesome true story from the same source which I feel I'm not competent enough to draw yet.

I will be getting back to a storyline soon.

Comic 20100308

A little comic with our chronicler Tom. Another quick and dirty lined page. Another case where I was happy with the dialog and there wasn't much that was visually dependent. Tom always draws himself poorly anyways.

The challenge was where to drop this page. It is sort of timeless in the arc of the stories. It could be put about anywhere since Tom doesn't interact with anybody else in a more than superficial way. I decided to just stick it at the end slush pile.

I realize that I have several little series left hanging. Like Marla and Mary, The start of the school year, the wet t-shirt contest, Mary talking to James, and likely a few others. I'm getting to them. Some of the ones I want to take a little more time with, others I have to figure out exactly who they should be resolved.

A Day Out

Spent the day out with the family. I have a sketch done for a page, but my eyes are crossing I'm so tired. I thought to post a couple little quick pics I'd fooled around with this week.

Each of these took about ten minutes, and it shows. I think I posted the naughtier one somewhere. I'm starting to loose track of things like that.

Comic 20100306

This is something that came up over our evening meal. It was this for a comic or 'The Tell-Tale Fart' Edgar Allan Po.

I should note that I used a picture to help draw out Edgar a bit. The same with the Teletubbies. Other than that this page went quickly and I think the layout of the dialog is better than usual.

I've seemed to have drifted from QT in the recent story arcs. So as I finish them up I'm going to be working more on her own arcs. It is her comic.

Comic 20100301-redux

Here is the complete page that started with Filling the Pool 3. I say 'yay' for sexy red underwear.

Comic 20100304

Scanned right from the comp book sketch. Except for the little bit of color pencil this is usually what a page looks at about a second draft. The next stage would be to either redraw it on regular paper then scan it it or start drawing it purely digitally using this draft a guide. The lettering was readable and there wasn't much going on except talking so here this is Mary Letting Go. In a finished work Jason Wu's last panel would have been worded differently. I have to continue this page with another or a set of panels to catch somethings I couldn't fit in here.

I'm trying not to make a habit of this level of work, but time always seems to be in short supply. It is grocery and Dr. appointment day today.

Comic 20100301

Fairly short little page. I have 3 more of these two framers to fiddle with. I will use a heavier pen when inking the others. Filling the Pool 3 and Filling the Pool 3b and Filling the Pool 3c.

Comic 20100228

Back to a traditional drawing for this. Papermate Flair lines scanned , vectored and colored. Sign-ups. Did the lines sitting around waiting for somebody to get discharged from the hospital. I had the core for this page for a while, but I did a fairly poor job getting the funny out of it. Roland's brother Mark with the third partner in Cankers, George.

February has been a bad month for me getting comic stuff done. I do think I have absolutely nothing going on Sunday and I'm feeling good about March.

Not a Great Day

A more snow and hassles. With some of the time I spent sitting around waiting for things to happen yesterday I managed to draw a page out. I still have to add dialog and scan it in etc, but I finding it hard to find the time to do those simple things. I've been running around getting medications. (not implying that I managed to get them all yet). I work tonight, errands and more work and more errands tomorrow and snow to hinder it all.

I am hoping that after work this evening I will have the energy to get an update in the queue for Saturday. If not I should be able to pull it together for an update Sunday.

Comic 20100225

Here it is. A little later than I planned. Marla and Mary Again 2. I think we have been seeing an awful lot of Mary this past month. I have to get to some of Qt's stories and bits and get out of some of this drama and into some creepier things.

Today seems like it will be a day in which I will be able to get very little done.

Comic 20100225-wip

I've been awake a long time. The routine surgery my family member went in for turned a little serious when their heart stopped beating for about 20 seconds. When they were extubated and the vagus nerve got a little pokey. Everything is fine, but there were a good many doctors floating around for a while. They are spending the night in the hospital, which adds another trip to the big city tomorrow.

I'll be working on this comic tonight and will likely just post it regardless of how much is done as long as the dialog is worked out. The sample is a good example of about a 1/5 finished piece. I've got to work on Mary, clean up lines a bit more, throw in the background, color, and add dialog. The rest of the page is in the same state.

While spending all that time in the waiting room today I did get the next Mary and Roland page scripted and thumbed. This has been one of the hardest to write for me. There is some character driven stuff that I was finding it hard to approach. Once I had it down it seemed a great deal smaller of a problem than I tricked myself into thinking it was. As a result nobody will be impressed with the time I spent dithering over it.

Vomitrix

Inspired by an all night puke fest featuring my wife. Though, she vomits much more daintily than this picture would suggest.

This was sitting around waiting to be finished for a few weeks.

There is likely no comic until Friday. I'm taking a family member in for minor surgery today and I don't know how long it will be. I do have the next Marla page started.

CowThulhu

Very quick. The entire picture took less than 5 minutes after I found a pic of a cow to look at for reference. Remember, the Bar Elder Sign brand is a mark of distinction. I have a much naughtier idea for the title which I'll try to visit at a later date.

Comic 20100222

I hate updating the day's comic so late in the day. But I hate trying to change a bunch of file names even more. The final leg of Marla's summer starts here. I may squeeze some other things in retroactively later, but this is the last thing that needs to happen before Marla gets back in school. Marla and Mary Again.

It is getting increasingly harder to find free time to work on the comic, at least while trying to maintain a minimum of quality. I'm already brushing the low end of the spectrum now. I'm not sure when the next update is going to be. It is increasingly looking like a busy week.

Comic 20100222-wip

Working on Comic 20100222 but it won't be up until tomorrow. It shouldn't take too much longer to finish it, but I don't have much longer to work on it.

I'm finally getting to the last Marla pages of the summer. There is this and two more before I can start her school year.

Comic 20100221

A half-hearted comic. Didn't give myself much time to work on this. Spent a greater part of yesterday driving around and taking care of a few important things. Nightwalk

Queen Larva

This is a quick sketch I did with an insect-like creature. I've a vague plot centered around it but it will be some time before I get to it as a comic. I may make a stand alone picture featuring this thing.

Comic 20100218

This is a devil of a page that I spent far too long on for how bad it is. I threw on some dirty shading to try and take some of the sting out. I was going to add some sound effects and 'Yeah, baby, fuck MEEEE!' dialog, but sometimes that makes me feel creepy. Just play some soft jazz while reading and that should be nice and in the mood. uh, don't play Glenn Miller's 'In the Mood' though, that would be silly. Filling the Pool 2. I'm not sure what I'm doing next.

I fiddled with the blog newsfeed. I tried feedburner, but I didn't like it. So, I rewrote some little pieces of the feed reader I use and added dates to the output. I used to be a pretty handy php script guy, but now I'm only mostly handy.

Comic 20100217

This weather and other distractions have kept me out of my comfort zone scheduling. I decided I had to get something up regardless of how decent it was. I have regular updates coming. Snow Day.

The pages have been slow going for me lately. I have been working on some other picture things either layout future pages and some stand alone pictures.

Update Coming Soon

With the snow and power outages I've had an extended and altered work schedule. Today we are driving 10 or 11 cats to the vet for spay and neuter services. This evening I should be able to get something finished, whether it is a comic or a just a pic. I've pages at different stages of development and a couple stand alone pieces started.

Snow

From my front porch Saturday morning. The tree in the middle leftish is a mulberry and is bent to half its height.

Surprise 21 inches of snow made havoc on my comic schedule. I lost internet for a few days. Luckily didn't loose the electric or phone. I totally did not work on one comic thing while sitting at home. I played Medieval: Total War and Quake II on my old computer.

Going to start on a few things in the morning. It looks like more snow is on the way. I hope to have an update by Thursday.

Comic 20100206

I wasn't planning on getting this comic done tonight. But it turns out I'm snowbound and that gave me just enough time to squeeze this out. Filling the Pool. I drew the entirety of this with the pen tablet. There were a few frames whose lines I could have spent more time on .. to be honest, I could have spent a good bit of time on every aspect of it. It looks like the next Mary and Roland page could have lots of sexy things in it.

If I can get out of the house tomorrow morning, (it is still snowing .. that makes about 12 hours straight so far) I'm taking 10 cats to get 'fixed'. I'm not sure how long that will take.

quadthulhu

Another of the 'If I started this comic over.' possibilities. Quadamp'thulhu. A great 'thulhu butchered and beaten down to the status of family pet or less.

This was going to be something a little less, a lot less, in the realm of power exchange / submission. It was also going to be another vector project. but as I sketched out some thumbs I was caught up in the thick lines and decided to just work directly from the sketch.

Comic 20100204

I really do not like posting comics so late in the day, but today and yesterday were so hectic it was a struggle to get this done.
Not a Good Apology 2

This comic, I believe, marks the first time we've see Stan and Milly. Milly is Roland's mother and Stan her live-in boyfriend.

So far my weekend looks relatively free and I hope to get some better quality pages done. I'm under the influence of a slight cold. The only bothersome thing now is a sore throat and that washed out fever feeling. I'm hoping a good nights sleep will take care of that.

Rackthulhu

Long ago I was looking for comic ideas because I got the bug to do a online comic. The goal was to start drawing and writing at my poor level and improve a little through forced practice. I had a couple story and setting ideas but the one that seemed the most fun at the time was a take on the Lovecraft Mythos. I'd run a short CoC game in days past and sort of lifted a setting from there (which is local to me) decided to throw in teenage high school stuff and off I went.

So, I named the comic Cutethulhu, thinking it was catchy for a teenage girl cthulhu's daughter sort of character. But there are a lot of 'Cutethulhu' out there and recently I was thinking if I started the comic fresh and wanted to use the same setting plot how I'd change the name to make it stand out a little.

Here is the first of 5 or so. RackThulhu

Finally Done

Xenia Seeburg as Xev, Ellen Dubin as the Pope,
Patricia Zentilli as Bunny (standing), Louise Wischermann as Lyekka

I finally finished watching all the Lexx episodes. Like Doctor Who last month I got into it really big. Now that I have my free time back I'm going to be back on a more regular update schedule with the comics and projects and plain old drawing.

If you haven't seen Lexx and like silly, dark, sexy sci fi stuff and watching planets being blown up look it up.

Comic 20100202

I drew this at work on the back of a stocking slip. I fixed up the dialog with some glue stick editing. Eat The Cat

Updates are going to be a little slow this week. They will be slow and likely awful. Time is short.

I'm still fooling around with vectors, but only in GIMP for now. At this point I've greater line width control stroking the line with GIMP than with Inkscape. What I find interesting is that I can eliminate my shaky hand and get to figuring out what construction elements I'm not strong with. I worked for a relatively long time on a few simple pictures, eventually going to a model to figure out where I was having problems.
