I wanted to spruce this up a bit more. Sarah at Work 2 Looks like Sarah and Guy are going to have a business arrangement of the dick in mouth variety. It is nice to finally get to some of the first arcs I wrote for this big story. I will be jumping around to establish a few things.

My wife is down sick and I'm not feeling well myself. You can expect a smaller, rougher, later update tomorrow.

Sarah at Work. I had a very tight schedule to get this done and it suffered a little for it. I think the next few updates will be just a few panels while I try to get behind other projects.

I hope you can see over the next month some previously disconnected plots and arcs come together. There is a plan.

I'm thinking about telling the arc leading to Wet T-Shirts for Life 2 from Cousin Guy backwards. More backwards than usual. As I finish up some of the wet t-shirt pages I will be thinking about that.

Maybe no update for Sunday, or maybe a lesser update. I have a full day tomorrow and not much time to devote to the comic. I still have some website design things to work on too. I may just take a technical day and do that. I think I've missed one day in the past couple of months.

I've been casting about trying to decide which storyline to pursue next. I think Mabel has been left behind. Overall she has the most challenging character development of the whole story.

I spent a good bit of my comic time writing a little javascript to rotate random comic thumbnails on the front page. I stopped making thumbnails for each comic some time ago so it will take some time until I go back and get them all made. Once they are all done I'll thumbnail the story menu.

Night fishing, at night in Bait. It is a bit tough to see what is going on but that is how it works at night. This lone fisherman was never seen again. This one is part of the River God cycle; we have not it seen in the comic yet.

I had a couple ideas in this sort of theme. I posted one here here which will be developed into something interesting.

I didn't have the time I wanted to get End of Class looking right. I put it up anyways. Just a little transition into the next round of things. Roland's visit to Marla's will have to wait while I get some other things caught up.

Kind of woke up this morning with how this was going to look in my mind. Dictation is my favorite secretary play on words joke .. 'dick' tation .. get it?

I need to strengthen my scripts a bit. I feel I'm being overly vague in some instances, but I'm afraid to clog the pages up with too many words. I often start sketching things before I have a strong script and have to squeeze or stretch what needs to be in words.

I'm going to a large job fair in the morning. If I'm lucky I'll find something decent and you will be seeing a lot less of me here.

A double update today. Mary Wonders in a Tree is the seed of a potentially naughty adventure. How far will Mary go to test Marla's unnatural allegiance to Roland? I think we will see some interesting turns from all three of these people before it is all over.

As I've said a few times I'm having chaos at home so updates are going to be sporadic and the subject matter may be a bit mean-spirited to reflect some of the frustrations I'm muddling through.

No Update Apology Sketch

The doctor character in this picture is originally from my old CoC game. I don't think he really had a name there and had just come onto the scene when we stopped playing. Whether he will be brought into the comic or not remains to be seen. I feel that in the current story he has no place but we may see him in a flashback sometime.

Not sure what is going on in my life right now let alone when I will be able to work on QT. It looks like I will be done with my current training one way or another today. I'm on my final tests and I have an equal chance at passing or failing.

Out to the woods again. Al Steps out. Al has gone from the wickedest snowman in the world to the wickedest zombie-golem thing.

In the county there are a lot of valleys with lost acreage, places just off the road or beyond a steep hill, where nobody goes on purpose. Miller's Woods holds many of these places.

Macfarlene Homestead is the last of this set. We've seen the inside of Sarah's non-mobile mobile home Here, but not yet.

I did a few thumbnails for Marla and Roland that I hope to have for the next update.

Character Quiz

I also did a little work on the Character Quiz with a lot more work left to go. The result picture for Marla and Professor Riley have been worked on a little and some questions and the results have been tweaked a bit also. I plan on reformatting the questions and answers, pick a final set of questions and answers, then go from there.

I colored this a little differently Sarah Gets a Ride. A bit of a shorter page. The full page had two beats in it so I thought I would split it up. Going to throw in some house history if I can remember it correctly.

I'm interested in showing Sarah's character some more. I feel she has a duality that I hope I can portray. I'm pretty sure this will be the first time a person has entered the Riley household with being killed or maimed or the first time without being killed and maimed.

Here it is. It hinted around that Sarah is a bit 'loose' sexually and Half Off is sort of the proof we've been waiting for. Sarah has no qualms about turning letting sex be a for profit activity.

The little arc starting with Mother the Pimp sort of skirted around the subject and ultimately showed Sarah in a less whorish light.

I may be able to maintain a more vibrant update schedule if I can break away from the full page writing format and updates down into 4 or less panels. Regardless of what I do there will be less from me from here on out as I get my finances in order.

Marla does a little work here in Marla Cleans Up. I spent two days this summer doing this very same chore. Thought I would share.

Tomorrow starts am emotionally taxing weekend which I will likely get no comic work done. I have errands in the morning Friday, class that evening and a very important test Saturday evening. Sunday I will either be happily relieved or upset and pissy.

This one I did fairly quickly, which is obvious. Intelligent design. I wanted to do something a little more for the last panel, something less cliche, but the few things I thought about wouldn't fit in one panel. There are plenty of victims out there, so maybe next time.

I hope to start on a Marla page today, picking up from Marla Walks Roland. I dunno, I finished a composition book of sketches and page ideas, I may try to glean something from it.

Did we see this joke yesterday? Drag Racing 2. When looking at the 'drag racing' joke I really wasn't sure which way to go with it. So, I did both.

I do not know what Shub is doing in the front hallway naked. Being a good wife is my best guess.

Likely not going to be an update Monday as I've a busy weekend. I will try to post something though. I did just finish laying a page out, so it may depend on my time and how detailed I want it to look. It is more of that silly drama stuff though.

Mary Reflects on the love talk from marla in Marla Gets Company 5. We see Mary have a bit of a breakdown. Again, it is fun to play around the edges of a story.

Your ideas of what Mary is about is likely better than what I will eventually present.

I almost didn't get this updated. I had this page done a day ahead of schedule but after a brief t-storm and a 30 second power outage my internet was down. It is all better now.

I was going to get into something different today but this popped into my head as something fun to do. C.F.F.F.R. This took up most of my comic work time and it /was/ fun to do. I adore poor Mrs. Pennytree so I'm sure we will be seeing more of her also.

Very sleepy with Marla Gets Company 5 I fought a bit with Marla's dialog here. this is sort of a big moment for her and I wanted it to be right. I might have a little more happen with her this night.

I'll be moving on into some new things in the next few updates. I've a wet t-shirt contest and an end of summer block party sort of thing. I have been dutifully spending my free time on incentive pieces and the Character Quiz. Today I added a new question, restructured an old one and updated one of the result images a little.

A little bit of a late update today. I was going to skip but I threw this together Marla Gets Company 4. I'm not really happy with Marla's face here. She doesn't look as jolly as I intended .. but considering the circumstances I didn't really want her to look maniacal either.

I did a little tweaking to the Character Quiz. It is still in rough shape though.

Character Quiz Gamma

I made one of these years ago for Dungeons and Dragons characters and thought it would be fun to do the some for the QT regulars. Character Quiz asks some questions, does some math, and tells you which character best fits. You can answer the questions about yourself to see which QT character your most like or try to 'unlock' the different character picks by answering as that character.

This is in a very early stage. You can see there are questions missing, questions under-explained, and the tallying side has sections missing also. The results images are very quick sketches that I will improve on as I work on the quiz.

What I will be working on is criteria of the characters, simplifying questions, and the presentation. Once I get it to a more attractive and accurate stage I'll link up to it in the menus.

Another last minute update. I got a few minutes further along with the foreground but skimped on the background. Mother's Nose.

I placed this way back towards the beginning because the 'cold' is a winter ailment and I hadn't really gotten into the second winter in the comic. I also should mention that the last frame Roland is supposed to have two noses .. on purpose. With the haphazard way I draw things I was thinking that some might believe is was a overlooked mistake.

My side project is in a gamma/beta stage of development. Once I figure out where I'm putting it I'll have it up tomorrow. Having to figure out where I'm going to upload a php script is one of the reasons I keep coming back to maybe hosting my comic someplace else.

A 15 minute page is gracing the comic today at Marla Gets Company 2. It seems that since Mary and Marla last met in Marla and Mary Again 3 Marla has a few new moves. In the timeline it has only been 10 days but it is about quality not quantity.

This is typically how a comic page starts out for me. I have a rough idea and a thumbnail in a comp book with some dialog. Then, I rough sketch, then rough in the layers. Here we have layers from top to bottom. Letters, Frames, Lines, Color, Bglines, background. This is where I stopped today.

I would clean and sketch and color and for this one add a shade layer and word balloons. Another hour or more of work, but I will be sleeping by then.

Spent a good bit of time beating my head against a side project and will be spending a most of the weekend working on different home projects.

Doesn't look like there will be a regular update today so here is another another old vote incentive. I'm not sure exactly when I ran this one or on which voting site. This is a little updated with some shading thrown on top.

I have errands and other time consuming chores for a few days. I will be working on a few projects related to Cutethulhu, but I'm unclear when the next real update will be.

(does that joke date me? it sure dates them ) So this is a small subplot that I was going to skip but I think I mentioned something about it in Saved Seat 3. So, I thought I better at least steer something in that direction. I needed a quick comic to put together too.

heh, I've also mentioned Roland's uncle Jack many times but none of you have seen him yet. I'm not sure why. I have a neat story involving him and the River God brewing.

woo callback in Division of Labor to Tools of Industry Which was first put up 4 years ago .. but in terms of the story as it stand it is only 10 or so pages back.

I am working a bit on an incentive piece and I think I'm going to put up a small past incentive gallery someplace. I spend a bit more time doing an incentive p[iece than I do on regular updates and I would like to show them off a bit more.
... I am really aching to put a more versatile site together, but I'll have to wait.

Likewise, I looked at a few free forums and I don't think I am going that route.

Division of Labor jumps way back to the end of the Garden of Serenity Story. I also finally moved Deadline into a more proper place in the flow of events.

Also did some updates to the links page and fixed a few small errors that had creeped into the comic site.

I've been seriously thinking about having a forums with the site, or switching to wordpress, or doing a dozen other things.

I have not worked on my extra stuff for a vote incentive or anything like that, I did finish the page for the seventh. So, I will have a bit more time this evening and tomorrow to knock something out.

Marla's new hobby Marla Works One Out. This whole part of the story is getting a little ahead of itself. I may have to rearrange things a little bit or think to move events around a little differently than I originally planned.

So here is Marla, obviously hooked on Roland. Mary knows it, Roland suspects. How will it all resolve? I have a few suspicions but I can't say for sure. SOme sides of some of the main characters are going to start showing that may be a little uncomfortable.

Here is the next Suprise Bedroom Guest. Telling a story from two different directions is interesting to me. Some who have read through my comic may have a guess as to the nature of Mary's abilities, but not likely to their exact extent. It seems from the current point of view a somewhat preserved grandmother and a young Roland Link are having pan generational affair.

The truth is a little more bizarre than that and somewhat less disturbing. As we go back in the story and tell some more of Mary's relationship with Mable's parents and a few other people around town how this relationship sits in the grand story will be noticeably different.

So, I've mentioned before. As the story grows in both directions it will change in both directions.

Todays quick Comic is not about a supper in a whorehouse. Whorehouse Supper is talking about a whorehouse during supper.

A bit of trivial background information about the town. It is one of those things you think about when doing background stuff that sometimes never sees the light of day. In this instance I needed a little supper conversation piece and Stan seemed like the sort of fellow that would know that sort of half gossipy information. The boarding house is a setting for things in the past.

Hiyas Gang, There is a break in the action of my life for the rest of the week and I have been aching to make a page or two, so today I've thrown together Cousin Guy 3.

I inadvertently misnamed Guy in the previous comics, but that is corrected at least in the titles. I can not guarantee any particular update schedule, but I have pictures I want to work on and I should have a little bit of time.

These Cousin Guy strips are a crux of much of the main story of the comic.

Small Hiatus

This past week and the next three to four weeks I will be involved in career schooling. I've decided to take a plunge into a semi career to take care of some extreme cash flow problems I'm experiencing. I'm still working on pages and working through stories and I'm also still sketching some stand alone pieces. But, making any sort of promises about scheduling would be silly.

After the school is finished, assuming I pass the various knowledge and skill tests I will be working long days and long weeks at least until I get financially solvent and have a bit put aside. As a requirement for the paying of my training I will be working for at least a year. (though, I have found a way around that if I get enough cash in hand).

I will be thinking of my dear QT and company often. I am going to try to work through some of the pages and pictures I have started but the priority now is school.

Heh, Well, this took a week to get to. Marla Wakes Up.

My car update is now two broken front coil springs, which should be arriving in the next few days. So we stand at: fix the strut springs -> front end alignment -> two new tires -> state safety inspection. This is after all the brake pads, caliper mounts, rotors. The car drama is one of the contributing factors to the comic being a bit off schedule.

Here is another quick comic. I keep trying to put together one panel comics, but I can't seem to do it. Marla's Nightmare.

Tomorrow morning I will be putting three disk brake rotors on my car and trying to get in for a wheel alignment somewhere. I also have to take a look at the ABS which I think has degenerated my brake lines. Then work in the evening. So bets are against there being a comic Wednesday.

A second page 4 years in the making Mary Arrives 2. I'm working on some wet t-shirt designs for that little arc and another of Mary's introduction arc.

I'm seriously contemplating job hunting in the next week or so. I'm having problems where I'm at with my hours. It is convenient to have the time off that I do, but I'm in a cash poor situation and need more work time to help out. So I'm not sure of my free time for a bit.

Ha Ha.. It has been a while since I've updated two days in a row. I had this little aside pop into my head last night and worked it up today. Scamp. If anybody has seen the funny bit from this page done somewhere before please let me know. As I was finishing it up I got the feeling that I'd seen the gag before.

I'm trying to squeeze in an hour a day every day directly working on pages. This will be in addition to the bits of time spent doing layouts and steeling funny bits from real life.

I'll be working on the final page and a half over the next few days. School is out in the next few days which shoots a good bit of drawing time down.

Super surprise comic. Cousin Gary. This starts a bit into the bigger picture. We have seen Gary in a previous comic that occurs after this one in Cankers 8. I'm fiddling with finishing the Canker's Wet T contest and other related things. I've literally 75+ scribbles, doodles and scripts for a pretty big arc that will shake up every character in the comic.

I've a lot of things going on this spring so far. The next big project is changing a wheel bearing in my stupid car. Thanks to those of you who have stuck with me so far. I will get to the end, but it may take a while.

I did build a 1'x1'x1' cement form for a footer block to repair my front porch and put 120lbs of cement in it. Now, if anybody asks you what the weight of a cubic foot of cement is you can casually tell them 120 pounds.

One of the next projects is an unseemly sewer pipe replacement. It will involve toilets, closet flanges and wax rings.

This particular panel looks into the future a little further than most. From the point where most of the story lines are fluttering around until QT meets the Mystery Broom is months if not years. I have to decide when best a particular plot point is unveiled before I can say for sure.

With spring here and yearly house maintainance on two houses and three lots it is getting a little hectic getting any sort of arting done.

Most importantly, I discovered this spring that I like Yuengling Porter more than Yuengling Black & Tan. I like my beer like I like my women like I like my coffee - dark and bitter.

Caught Planning - updates

My wife and I have been planning a trip to NYC so she can attend a medical conference. Due to several restrictions with varying travel arrangements this is turning into a major hassle. So until we either figure out how to get her there or find out we can't get her there I'm not going to have much time for anything else.

I'm a bit disappointed about the infrequent updates this past few weeks. Many times my schedule is not my own and I really can't work on the comic at certain times. I am pushing to make more time here.

I felt a few things in the set up of the story needed fleshed out a little bit. One point that nagged at me a bit was what paperwork was actually attached to the Rileys. Where there birth certificates, marriage licenses? For Shub and Professor Riley I think there are some but QT doesn't have any of that.

US tax day comic that has nothing to do with taxes: First Day Recap. I felt it was needed since I posted half of the first day back 4 years ago and the other half about 4 weeks ago maybe and worked the last few months getting Marla to the first day of school.

I also thought it important that Roland finally have an 'AHA' moment about Marla. What will he do now? At this time he is having a semi relationship with Mary and he has a perpetual crush on Sarah.

I do have some definite ideas about outcomes. This is one of the areas of the stories that I've left open to see how I felt about the different characters when the time came.

Slow Update

After all my car drama I'm a bit out of sync with my schedule. I have another little flash animated comic about ready post, but since it takes a little finesse in putting the page together I'm not going to have it until later.

We've had appointments today and work this evening and I haven't had time to lay anything out. As far as I know, and often I'm the last to know, I'm free tomorrow and I should have something for Thursday. As I've mentioned a few times before this will be the 200th page. Since I'm keen to keep my updates coming quickly I will likely make a stand alone piece to commemorate the milestone.

I made a Facebook Page for the Cutethulhu Webcomic. I'm not entirely sure how integration will go but I can have threaded discussions there and some easier ways to interact with those curious about the comic.

This comic got pushed back a couple times. Birdbox 3 I thought a couple times that maybe this couple of pages is a bit too much and it is going to be a bit worse before it is over.

The next page up will be number 200. I haven't decided exactly what it will be. I haven't done more than a rough thumbnail of the next Birdbox so I don't have any time invested in anything. Maybe I will think of something at work this evening.

Stupid Caliper Mounts ...

.. Are Stupid

A normally routine brake pad change turned into not having a vehicle when one sliding bolt on each of my rear brake caliper mounts have seized. This means that I can not remount my calipers until they are loosened. On the bright side I did get to use my hammer in anger.

I've doused them in some lubricant and will try to get them loosened tomorrow. If not I will have to replace the whole mounts. I've a fairly common car so I should be able to find working mounts at one of several local junk yards.

Why does the Cutethulhu blog care? There won't be much time for updates until I get my car on the road again.

200th Comic Looming

According to my navigation javascript my 200th upload is looming. Four or five more updates and I will have broken 200. I've been having fun putting the story together and I hope to have the next 200 done in ... 31/18 * 200 = about 344 more days ...

I'm trying to think of ways to mark the occasion. This comic takes a nice little hunk of my time and 200 is a lot. Any ideas?

Hiyas, sort of a last minute cobbled copy/paste heads thing. This comic presumes that they have caught up with Marla's summer activities minus LLXL and weird shit and shows that Marla doesn't know what Roland has been up to. Saved Seat 3.

There have been many different takes on them having their first actual conversation, but as Roland says the few minutes before class starts is not the ideal time and and /we/ have seen most of it happen so I don't want to present it all again except for a little supposition for lost readers.

Here is a bit of stronger bit of iconography than usual. I'm interested in illuminated manuscripts, hieroglyphics and mesoamerican art. I like to do these sort of pictures when they can fit into the narrative. LLXL Consigned. This shows that Mary is putting LLXL back into the earth. Trapping it again.

I'm posting this on Good Friday and scheduling it for Easter Sunday. This is one I've had thumbnailed since my first run on Cutethulhu and I finally drew it up. Easter Meal It is awful in almost every way but that is what the Cutethulhu comic is all about.

Here is Birdbox 2. A bunch of transitional panels showing a heavier than usual Shub. I think she may be on an eating binge or maybe just let herself go a bit getting out of that box. I did enjoy drawing her even meatier than usual. I'm having a great time drawing wide hips and a bit of a belly. Oh and it is not just a birdbox. It is looking like a Birdtrap too.

The next page should be the standalone picture I've been working on, but I don't know if I will be able to get it done in a timely manner. I had an Easter picture roughed out. A very irreverent Easter picture. I will likely work on that to have it done for the holy day.

Blogger is giving me grief .. SO Bird Food Free is a quickie based on the inspiration for the Birdbox Start. I was working on the next page in Birdbox, but It went long. I'm actually working on a standalone piece for an incentive / preview before I get into the next page. I've a fire for today and wiring up an outside light. So I'm really hoping to have the time and energy to get the current project done.

It is April Fools Day. I'm not very excited about it. I was sort of thinking about doing something with it for the comic, but I'm not.
